Michele Leqve's Bio
Michele Leqve has only been bow hunting for the past 13 years, and in that time, she has taken 50 big game animals and has 10 different species! She has 18 Pope & Young Class animals. She started bowhunting in the fall of 1996. She met her husband Jim in 1995 and quickly found out that he was a bowhunter only, so she put down her gun and quickly followed in his foot steps.
She and her husband Jim travel all over the United States, Mexico, South Africa and Canada (Newfoundland, Northwest Territories, Quebec, Nunavut) pursuing the animals the love to hunt. Her most precious trophy is the 9 1/2 foot Polar Bear she took in Nunavut Canada on April 14th 2006, where she became the first woman in the world to take a Polar Bear with bow & arrow! Michele’s second best bow hunt was September 2008 where she went on the very challenging Mountain Caribou hunt in the McKenzie Mountains of the Northwest Territories and took a huge 345 P&Y class bull that ended up placing 3rd in a two year recording period at the 2009 Pope & Young Convention awards banquet. . Knowing all of Michele’s accomplishments, it’s easy to see why she is known as: “The EXTREME BOWHUNTRESS”!
Michele is a field producer and has been on three TV shows that aired on the Sportsman’s Channel. One was; “WomenHunters® Outdoors” TV Show 2004 and the other one was; “Greg Hopf’s “DEER QUEST” Outdoor Adventures TV Show” 2005. In the 1st and 2nd quarters of 2008 & 2009 she aired on the show; “ASAT® Nation” TV Show. She is previously working with 2 TV shows: “Relentless Pursuit with Tim Wells”, and “Mathews TV with Dave Watson”.
Michele has been in 2 commercials, an ASAT® Camouflage commercial, and the other is the Whisker Biscuit commercial with the Polar Bear she shot. She has been on several Radio shows and pod-casting programs, and been published several times in “Bowhunter Magazine”, and “Bear Hunting Magazine”. Along with being a photographer, she has taught Archery and Bowhunting classes at the Women in the Outdoors events in Minnesota. She is also involved with the WomenHunters® Club, where she is a writer and on their International Pro-staff.
She has been a Seminar Speaker at the Deer & Turkey Expo’s in Minnesota & Wisconsin and at the Minnesota Cabela’s Store, and is active in helping women & children get started in bowhunting. She gives seminars at local schools, where she talks with the children about her Polar Bear hunt, ethical & safe hunting and about several of the different animals she has taken. Her seminars are not only about her hunts, but she teaches the children to be respectful of wildlife, nature, land, and most importantly the land owners, talking with them about now important it is to give back for what you have taken. She explains how important it is for women and children to be a part of hunting and that: “Women hold the key to the future of hunting”. You could say that Michele has never met a stranger. With her energy, big heart, and knowledge she is a huge asset to the bowhunting industry.
Jim Leqve's Bio
Jim Leqve was born with a passion to hunt. Coming from an avid hunting family, he found himself hunting at the tender age of 8. He started out bow hunting and by the time he was 13 he had taken his first Whitetail with a traditional bow. With his main passion being bow hunting, at 27 he laid down his gun and since then bowhunting has taken up his every spare moment.
Being an accomplished bow hunter, many of his trophies are Pope and Young class animals. At the 2009 Pope & Young convention in Denver, he received an award for his 2007 Woodland Caribou which was a very high honor.
He is an accomplished photographer, and video-grapher, where he films his wife Michele as they go across the United States, Canada, Mexico and South Africa pursuing the animals they love to hunt. When it comes to hunting with his wife Michele, he always sacrifices his hunts to video tape Michele’s hunts. His unselfish ways of guiding and mentoring Michele through out the years are the main reason why she has become the accomplished bow hunter that she is today.

Jim has great admiration and respect for all of the true, diehard bow hunters in this sport! He enjoys helping children get started in bowhunting. He has helped at the Ray Howell Kicking bear camps and teaching children how to shoot a bow. He is an ethical hunter who is always striving to do better. He is quite shy and is very humble about the animals he has taken, make no mistake… Bowhunting is his life!
